The Devs have hyped up the Campaign quite a bit with all the stuff they've mentioned that is supposed to be in and the replayability of it. To have automated "content" be put out so we all have something to do to kill the time until the Campaign. This is also why the Devs decided to create and release the Weekly Challenge Map system.
